JOHOR BARU: Tanah Sutera Development Sdn Bhd wants to bring back the spirit of kampong living with its new housing scheme called “The Seed @ Sutera Utama”.
The company’s general manager Steven Shum said Tanah Sutera hopes to promote goodwill within the gated and guarded community.
“Living in a gated and guarded project does not mean residents have to mind their own business for the sake of privacy,’’ he said in an interview with StarMetro.
Shum said in the good old days of kampong living, almost everyone knew everyone in a village and this has resulted a good bonding among villagers.
He said the residents committee would organise activities for residents to know each other better, such as get together parties, celebrating festivals or birthdays.
“Each block will have a communal garden where residents can jointly plant vegetables, fruits or flowers but they must adhere to organic farming practices.
“They can share the produce among them or exchange with residents of other blocks or sell them in market and the money will be used for their gardening activities,’’ said Shum.
Apart from promoting camaraderie, house buyers must be part of the “green community” by separating their rubbish and turn the food wastage into compost for the communal gardens.
