The slope next to the building in Solaris Mont Kiara.
SOIL erosion on a slope facing the Duta-Ulu-Kelang Expressway (Duke) in Solaris Mont Kiara Phase II, is causing worry among residents and owners in the area.
The slope is not only showing signs of soil erosion but the area also floods each time there is a downpour.
Solaris Mont Kiara Joint Management Body (JMB) committee member Su Jiang Joo said the erosion was worsening and that no proper action had been taken to rectify the situation.
Although developer Sunrise Century Sdn Bhd has taken interim measures to minimise risks by installing culvert pipes and a temporary retention wall, Su said there was still a need for a retention pond to contain rainwater at the slope.
Recently, parts of the wall had also collapsed and more soil was being washed away.
Rainwater that gushes down the slope due to the absence of proper drains also cause water to overflow into a nearby tunnel used by motorcyclists.
“We have complained to the developer and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) but DBKL’s drainage and river management department is unable to do anything cause the land also comes under the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM).
“When we complained to LLM, they said the situation was due to the developer’s action in constructing a pipe which brings water into the slope area.
“However, the developer has agreed to clear up and rectify the situation by building proper walls and drains but so far there has not been any approval from LLM.
“Considering the magnitude of the problem and the threat it poses, it is an urgent matter.
“We need to do something before the building next to the slope collapses,” said Su, adding that the JMB was disappointed with LLM’s reaction on the matter.
“We are caught between DBKL, LLM and the developer in this situation,” added Su.
When asked about the soil erosion, a representative from Sunrise Berhad said they had fulfilled all requirements imposed by the local authorities and had received a Certificate of Fitness in 2008
